3 Affordable Sunscreens You Need This Summer!

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I wanted to share my absolute favorite 3 affordable sunscreens  I’ve been reaching for this summer. Summer is here (well Saturday is officially the first day of summer). What are your plans for this summer I’m sure it will be a summer to remember.

Whatever your plans are (which I would love to hear about), I’m sure now that restrictions are slowly being lifted we can start getting back to our somewhat regular routine. I have a feeling we will spending time in the outdoors more now then ever as everyone is craving to be in the fresh air and get some sun. I’m going to review 3 of my favorite affordable new Sunscreens that are dupes to some well known brands but way affordable.

Canmake Mermaid skin Gel UV SPF 50+PA++++

This is a Japanese brand that has a water gel texture I would say is the lightest one of them all. It is described as a hydrating Japanese lotion. It definitely has a hydrating effect to it and I have combination skin but I would say the hydration doesn’t feel greasy. It doesn’t have a sticky feeling to it and the best part is, it doesn’t leave a white cast. This can be used as a makeup base and is not water, sebum or sweat resistant. This sunscreen has been compared to Kravebeauty beet shield spf, which I have tried and surprisingly is true to some degree the textures are similar but the price points are totally different. I bought the Canmake for $11.99 for 30ml/ 1oz from amazon whereas the beet shield I bought for $20 for 50ml/1.69 oz. So, you are getting extra .69oz from kravebeauty. I honestly feel both are reasonably priced and I would repurchase them both again.

DRMTLGY Anti-Aging Tinted Moisturizer With SPF 46

This is a US brand that’s has a universal tint ( I would describe it as a light peachy color) that I would say is suitable for all skin colors. It doesn’t give coverage but evens out the skin a bit giving it a natural look that can be worn alone or with some concealer and that’s it. It’s non-greasy and easily absorbs into the skin while acting as a moisturizer for the skin. It claims to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles giving a natural healthy glow. This has broad spectrum SPF 46 that protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays. It has ingredients like niacinmide which is a great for improving enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles and dullness.

This is a straight up dupe to the EltaMD SPF 46 that retails for $36 for a 50ml/1.7oz whereas this DRMTLGY retails for $19.95 for 50ml/1.7oz on Amazon.

Innisfree Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 36

This is a Korean brand SPF that is lightweight water based that leaves no white cast. This has Cica (that you will find in many k-beauty skincare) which is a well known ingredient to sooth irritated skin. This is also coral reef friendly which means the ingredient list in this product is non-toxin and doesn’t harm the coral reef. It retails for $15 for 50ml/1.69oz which makes it the more affordable one considering the amount you are getting for the price.

I hope this blog post was helpful and gave you some options of SPF’s to choose from. Remember these are chemical sunscreens and I prefer chemical over mineral sunscreen beacause my combination skin likes them more and I have yet to find the right one (if you know one that works for combination skin please let me know). I also just want to say that these three SPFs are moisturizing so if you have oily/combination skin I would skip the moisturizer.
