The $5 Dollar Concealer!

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Yes, you read right. The $5 dollar concealer exists. Thankfully for companies like The Ordinary they are able to offer such great products for at a much reasonable prices. This concealer is available in 36 shades. I ordered two because I wasn’t sure of how the colors would turn out. It’s very tricky ordering concealer or foundation online but for $5 I was willing to take the risk.

I got the 1.2 N light neutral and 2.0 N light medium neutral. The 1.2 I found to be very light I like my concealer to be close to my skin color because I prefer the natural skin finish. The 2.0 was a better match. One thing to take into consideration is that this concealer oxidizes (the color goes slightly dark).

The $5 dollar concealer swatches

As you can see from the swatches from the top photo of the $5 dollar concealer. The top swatch is in the shade 1.2 and the bottom shade is in the 2.0. Shade 1.2 is very light for me but shade 2.0 when blended gives a more natural look and finish.

The texture of the concealer feels more like a satin finish and it sets rather quick. When it comes to coverage its not full but more on the medium side. I have some malasma around my eye area and it didn’t cover I had to go in to add more but It’s a buildable concealer. Regarding using a brush or your fingers, I found dabbing it on with my fingers worked the best. By using my fingers it gave a natural smooth and like I had no concealer on. I set the concealer with setting powder and it stays put the whole day. The down side of this concealer is it sits on dry patches. So, if you have dry skin this concealer is not a great choice. For the price I do recommend you try it out and see if it suits you but overall its a good concealer.
